The Sunday School Bible, SSB, and The Sunday School Bible logo are registered trademarks of
The Sunday School Bible, LLC. 

 

FAIR USE
The text of The Sunday School BibleTM may be quoted in print or eBook form, up to and inclusive of 500 verses without express written permission of the publisher, provided that the verses quoted do not account for more than 25 percent of the work in which they are quoted, and provided that a complete book of the Bible is not quoted.

Quotations in excess of five hundred (500) verses or twenty-five percent (25%) of the work, or other permission requests, must be approved in writing by The Sunday School Bible, LLC. Send requests by email to info@sundayschoolbible.com or through the Permissions Questionnaire.

COPYRIGHT NOTATION

  • When The Sunday School BibleTM is quoted, one of the following credit lines must appear on the copyright page or title page of the work:

    • When the SSB is being used exclusively in a project:

    • When multiple translations are being used in a project:

    • When multiple translations are being used in a project, but the majority will be taken from the SSB:

NON-SALABLE MEDIA

  • When quotations from SSB text are used in non-salable media, such as church bulletins, orders of service, newsletters, transparencies, or similar media, a complete copyright notice is not required, but the initials (SSB) must appear at the end of each quotation.

MUSIC

  • Our policy for quoting The Sunday School BibleTM in music is that the verses must be quoted word-for-word (verbatim), with no words taken out.

  • Quotes from SSB in music must be clearly detailed in writing on our Permissions Questionnaire before permission may be granted.


Please include the following information in your request:

  • Your complete lyrics

  • How many verses of SSB are you using

  • Approximately what percentage of your song is made up of SSB scripture

  • How many songs are you hoping to write

  • Do you intend on selling your song and on what platforms and in what formats

 

ARTWORK

  • Quotes from SSB used with graphic designs including T-shirts, book covers, posters, bumper stickers, banners, greeting cards, billboards, or other artwork, must be clearly detailed in writing on our Permissions Questionnaire before permission may be granted. In the questionnaire, please provide a list of which specific product types you want to sell, as well as pricing for each product.

    • Please include the following information in your request:

      • What product types are you planning to sell

      • What will the retail price be for each product

      • How many units of each product are you hoping to sell in the next 5 years

      • What percentage of the product is made up of SSB scripture

 

ONLINE PLATFORMS

  • Our standard fair-use policy to quote SSB in Sermons/Bible Teachings Online is:

    • Permission to quote up to 50 verses per recording.

    • The scripture quotes can make up to 25% of the spoken content.

    • Each recording must give verbal or written attribution to SSB.

    • Recording cannot be commercial or monetized (if content is commercial or monetized, please contact The Sunday School Bible, LLC to discuss in more detail).

  • Our standard fair-use policy to quote SSB in online formats (Podcasts, YouTube, etc.) when percentage of bible content is over 25%:

    • Permission to quote up to 250 verses per recording.

    • No more than 30 videos/episodes containing SSB may be up on page at a time.

    • No post can contain an entire book of the Bible.

    • Recording cannot be commercial or monetized (if content is commercial or monetized, please contact The Sunday School Bible, LLC to discuss in more detail).

    • Each video or podcast should give verbal attribution to SSB.

    • Each video must also give proper written attribution to SSB in the description section of each post as follows:

  • Not meeting online fair use guidelines:

    • If the online content is substantially or exclusively SSB content and is commercial/monetized, the creator will be required to pay a fee and to obtain a Permission Letter or a License from The Sunday School Bible, LLC. If your content falls into this category, please contact The Sunday School Bible, LLC to discuss next steps.

 

FURTHER GUIDELINES

  • All material quoted from SSB must be done so accurately, including punctuation, capitalization, italics, etc. The Sunday School Bible, LLC must be made aware of any intended deviation in style, in writing, prior to publication.

  • Permission given by The Sunday School Bible, LLC for the use of text from SSB applies to the specific use requested. Any other use requires a separate request for permission. If you have been granted permission for use of text from SSB, you may not pass permission on to another person.

  • Permission to quote from SSB in projects produced for sale that are not within fair-use limits may be accompanied by a fee.
